The Department of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital adheres to the concept: "doctors and patients work as one man, serve with sincerity and pursue excellence". When the Hospital was established in 2012, it actively responded to the call of the Ministry of Health and carried out the  "Demonstration Project of High-quality Nursing Service". The Department provides quality nursing services that aim to solve patients' health problems, meeting the needs of patients. It strives to create a high-quality, efficient and caring team. The Department has 9 nursing units in 7 divisions including respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, nephrology, endocrinology, hematology, rheumatology and dermatology, and hemodialysis. It establishes care, trust, professionalism and innovation as the core values to provide patient-centered services and consistent medical support.

There are 289 beds at the Department, including 9 Bone marrow transplant silos, 69 hemodialysis machines, and 211 ordinary beds, with a total of 154 nurses, including 1 senior nurse and 6 head nurses. There are 12 specialist nurses at the department. All are committed to the development of medical nursing.

Nephrology Division

The Division of Nephrology introduces the advanced nursing management model of Queen Mary Hospital of Hong Kong, including pre-dialysis education, dialysis method selection, dialysis standardized training, post-dialysis follow-up, dialysis remote management, etc. The annual number of outpatient visits for nursing services is about 1000-1500.

Hemodialysis Center

The hemodialysis center has introduced advanced catheter nursing technology from Hong Kong Queen Mary Hospital and the United Kingdom. and conducts comprehensive nursing assessment, strict aseptic operation. The incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infection has been reduced and the quality of life and survival rate of patients has improved. There are currently 281 patients and 35,810 blood purification treatments were completed in 2021, of which 3,678 cases are hemodialysis catheter care.

Digestive System Division

The nursing team of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division is united and actively carries out technological innovation. Nurses placed the nasojejunal tube at the bedside without relying on any auxiliary equipment. And the success rate of tube placement was no less than 95%, which solved the feeding problem of enteral nutrition for critically ill patients.

Division of Hematology

The Division consists of general wards, transplant rooms and laboratories. It is Shenzhen's first certified CAR-T treatment center. The Division strives to build a warm nursing team to provide patients with nutritious meals, child care wards and cross-border services. It priotizes evidence-based practice and makes every effort to improve its services.

Division of Respiratory Medicine

Since the establishment of the Division in October 2014, the nursing team has closely followed the professional development of the Division. It has built and developed specialized nursing care for chronic diseases and sleep monitoring. It is engaged in the promotion, follow-up and research of pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma, COPD clinics and sleep center. The Division adopts a mixed teaching mode to improve the process of building its nursing team. Since the establishment of the asthma nursing clinic in 2019, the management mode of specialized nurses has been implemented. Nurses specialized in asthma treatment are responsible for the education of the disease and medication, as well as telephone follow-up, so as to raise patients' awareness of the disease.

The Division of Rheumatology and Dermatology

The nursing team adheres to the concept of "quality, teaching, scientific research, humanities" and ensures patient safety based on standardized quality and teaching management system. Division of Endocrinology

The Division promotes the teamwork of doctors, nurses and assistants to provide high-quality medical services to patients. It organizes a variety of health education activities, such as diet and exercise workshops, and also provides patients with insulin health education. During the epidemic, live broadcasting was used to explain medical science, so as to provide patients with various forms of knowledge.
