HKU-SZH has set up a Medical Ethics Committee with reference to the Hong Kong West Cluster’s practice. The committee is now running smoothly based on a two-tiered model. Underpinning the Medical Ethics Committee are six ethics sub-committees responsible for medical ethics reviews. As of December 2021, the committee had held 14 general meetings. A total of 1,644 clinical trial projects, research projects and novel technology projects had been reviewed by the sub-committees, of which 768 were reviewed by Medical Ethics Committee Members at meeting and 877 by expedited review.
