  • Orthopaedic Clinic

    Orthopaedic surgery is a kind of medical specialty; conclude the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of the injury and abnormality of the musculoskeletal system. The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of HKU-SZH provides full-scale services for children and adults suffering from musculoskeletal disorders.With our professional rehabilitation specialists, we can provide personalized rehabilitation programs. There are subspecialty services provided by our department i.e. orthopaedic trauma, spine surgery, sports medicine, paediatric orthopaedics, orthopaedic oncology, joint replacement surgery and rehabilitation.

  • Orthopaedic trauma

    The division of orthopaedic trauma of HKU-SZH is found with the help of Queen Mary Hospital. The division can provide full-scaled services for inpatients and outpatients.All kinds of fracture, including four limb fractures and pelvic fractures are managed by trauma division. With the combination of classical theory and latest clinical development, trauma team can provide best services for our patients.
  • Spine Surgery

    The spine team of HKU-SZH is found with the help of Queen Mary Hospital and with the leadership of Dr.Feng ZHU. Spine team can provide full-scaled services forinpatients and outpatients. Spine team can finish all kinds of spinal surgeries, i.e Scoliosis surgery, anterior cervical spine surgery, spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis surgery, combined therapy of spinal infection and tuberculosis, and minimally invasive treatment of spinal compression fractures and lumbar disc herniation. At the same time spine team keeps closely cooperation with physical therapy department, provide complete, standardized, professional treatment and rehabilitation to all outpatient and inpatient.
  • Sports Medicine

    The division of sports medicine looks after various acute and chronic damage of the ligaments, muscles, tendons, cartilage and joint. The sports medicine concerned about minimally invasive treatment or arthroscopic treatment of the disease. Currently the division of sports medicine can provide comprehensive medical service in treating frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injury, subacromial impingement syndrome,SLAP injury, habitual shoulder dislocation, chronic shoulder pain; ligament, cartilage, tendon and meniscus injury of the knee; snapping hip, GMC contracture, labrum tear of acetabular, acetabular impingement syndrome, femoroacetabular impingement; hallux valgus; cartilage and ligament damage of ankle; muscle strain, tennis elbow, golf elbow, tenosynovitis, jumping knee, Achilles tendinitis, peripheral nerve entrapment; various joint synovitis; joint stiffness release, debridement and drainage of joint infection and loose body remove using minimally invasive method; gout arthritis crystal scratch, etc.
  • Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedics

    The division of paediatric and adolescent orthopedics looks after all aspects of orthopaedic diseases in paediatric and adolescent population. With the support of The University of Hong Kong, The Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital (DKCH) and Queen Mary Hospital, the division provides comprehensive medical service in treating skeleton dysplasia and neuromuscular diseases, peadiatric trauma and joint inflammation and infections in children and adolescent. 

    Under the supervision of Dr M To, the division of paediatric and adolescent orthopedics has completed a number of complicated deformity correction surgeries in extremities and spine, including modified sofield procedures for extremity deformity correction in Osteogenesis imperfect patient, anterior or posterior instrumented fusion for congenital, neuromuscular or idiopathic scoliosis, one-stage comprehensive bony correction and soft tissue release for spastic cerebral palsy, open reduction and pelvic or proximal femur osteotomy for developmental dysplasia of the hip, Perthe’s disease, congenital SCM torticollis, club foot, polydactyly and syndactyly.

  • Orthopaedical Oncology

    The division of orthopaedic oncology is found with the help of Queen Marry hospital and can provide full scaled services forinpatients and outpatients.Our orthopaedic team, together with oncological centre, provide a multidisplinaryteam approach to patients suffering from musculoskeletaltumour. 
  • Joint Replacement Surgery

    Under the leadership of consultant YAN, Chun-Hoi, and with the help of the joint replacement department of Queen Mary Hospital, we have done most kinds of joint replacement surgery, such as revision arthroplasty and total shoulder replacement. All the patients received standard and professionalized rehabilitation program, and achieved best joint function. During the follow-up, none of our patient has severe complication, the results of the surgery are excellent, and patients are all satisfied.
  • Physiotherapy

    The hospital physiotherapy department started to provide clinical service in March 2014. We work closely with the department of orthopaedics and traumatology to provide quality rehabilitation service.

    The physiotherapy department borrows clinical and management experience from Hong Kong. Based on clinical evidence, we assess and treat patients using modern technology and exercise therapy. Therapeutic modalities such as infra-red, ultrasound, hot/cold pack and shockwave are good examples of pain management devices. We also emphasize early rehabilitation for surgical patients to minimize complications. Patients can regain function and go home at the earliest possible time after surgery.
